Migration Matters Trust

"We are a cross-party group of politicians, business executives and trade union leaders who believe the time has come for an open and honest debate about the issues of migration. We acknowledge the positives of migration, while directly confronting the challenges modern migration patterns pose to society." [1]

The Migration Matters Trust is led by a chair and two co-chairs:

  • Chair: Barbara Roche - former MP for Hornsey and Wood Green from 1992 to 2005, Barbara served as a Minister across four government departments, including as Minister of State for Immigration and Asylum. She was also a Minister at the Treasury and the DTI. Barbara is currently chair of a large social housing provider.
  • Co-Chair: Lord Navnit Dholakia - deputy leader of the Lib Dems in the House of Lords and President of the Lib Dems between 1999 and 2002. Navnit has a long track record campaigning on race and equality issues and is currently chair of the National Association for the Care and Re-settlement of Offenders (NACRO).
  • Co-Chair: Nadhim Zahawi MP is Conservative co-chair. Nadhim was elected in 2010 and is the Member of Parliament for Stratford on Avon. He is a member of the Number 10 policy board and of the Business, Innovation and Skills Select Committee.

"The day to day campaign is run by the Director, Atul Hatwal. Atul has twenty years' experience in managing campaigns, working across public, private and voluntary sectors. The campaign chairs and Director are part of an advisory board that brings together stakeholders from business groups and the unions, providing a broad-based coalition of support. Members include:
