Mimi E. Alemayehou

"Mimi Alemayehou is Managing Director and a member of the Board of Directors for Black Rhino Group, an investment platform focused on the development and acquisition of energy and infrastructure assets across Africa. Prior to Black Rhino, Ms. Alemayehou was appointed by President Obama to serve as the Executive Vice President of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, the development finance agency of the U.S. Government. During Ms. Alemayehou’s tenure from 2010 to 2014, OPIC’s portfolio grew by more than 24 percent to $18 billion and the corporation’s Africa portfolio tripled to nearly $4 billion.

"Previously, Ms. Alemayehou was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve as the United States Executive Director on the Board of the African Development Bank (AfDB). In this role, Mimi was the senior U.S. Treasury Department official in Africa representing the United States on policy and development issues across the continent. Prior to AfDB, Ms. Alemayehou was Founder and Managing Partner of Trade Links, LLC, a development consulting firm. She started her career in the U.S. Congress, working for Representative Mac Thornberry of Texas. Ms. Alemayehou was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and was raised in both Ethiopia and Kenya. Mimi holds a Master’s degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University and a BA from West Texas A&M University.

"Ms. Alemayehou serves as an Executive Advisor to Blackstone, on the Board of Canada’s development finance institution, FinDev Canada and Energy for Growth Hub." [1]

In March 2008 President George W. Bush announced his intention to nominate Mimi Alemayehou, "of the District of Columbia, to be the United States Director of the African Development Bank. Ms. Alemayehou currently serves as Founder and Managing Partner of Trade Links, LLC. Prior to this, she served as a Program Manager at the International Executive Service Corps. Earlier in her career, she served as Director of International Regulatory Affairs at the Worldspace Corporation. Ms. Alemayehou received her bachelor's degree from West Texas A&M University and her master's degree from Tufts University." [1]
