"Nebojša Nešković is the Secretary General of the World Academy of Art and Science. He is a physicist and engineer working in the Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences, Belgrade, Serbia. He is the Head of the project of construction and use of the TESLA Accelerator Installation, being a regional large scale facility for science and medicine. The programs of use of the Installation include basic and applied research in physics, chemistry and biology, development of materials technologies, production of radiopharmaceuticals, and proton therapy. He has obtained his PhD degree at the University of Belgrade and completed his post-doctoral study in the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Tennessee, USA. His most important scientific contributions belong to the field of theoretical solid state physics and his engineering contributions to the field of accelerator technologies. He was the Associate Director for Science of the Vinča Institute. Besides, he was the Director of the TESLA Scientific Center – an association of 15 scientific and educational institutions from South Eastern and Central Europe. In that capacity, he organized many international meetings focused on establishing and intensifying scientific and technological collaboration in the region and with the rest of Europe and the USA. Presently, he is the Chair of the Nominations Committee of the Academy."[1]
