Partners of the Americas
Partners of the Americas "believes that working together across borders builds understanding and improves the lives of people in the Western Hemisphere." [1]
"Partners of the Americas was inspired by President John F. Kennedy, who in 1963 launched the Alliance for Progress" and the following year Jim Boren (a foreign service officer based in Peru) created Partners of the Alliance, “which was established as part of the U.S. Agency for International Development” and soon after changed its name to Partners of the Americas. [2]
Ronald Reagan notes that "In the past quarter century, you and your predecessors have touched the lives of hundreds of thousands of people for the better in the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean. Your many programs in areas such as small business development, agriculture, health, emergency preparedness training and culture and the arts, continue to supply help and hope." [3]
The USAID-supported Inter-American Democracy Network was "founded by Partners in 1995 to help CSOs advance democracy and citizen participation." pdf
