Peter H. Pennekamp

Peter H. Pennekamp is the Board Co-Chair of Internews and the Director of the Humboldt Area Foundation.

"Peter H. Pennekamp has been executive director of the Humboldt Area Foundation in California since 1993. Prior positions include vice-president of National Public Radio and program director for the National Endowment for the Arts, both in Washington D.C.

"In addition he serves on the board of directors of the California Endowment, the board of advisors of the University of Southern California Center for Nonprofit Studies, and is a founding member of the League of California Community Foundations. He has often been a policy or grants panelist, including for the Ford Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation and David and Lucile Packard Foundations and for the National Endowment for the Humanities, Corporation for Public Broadcasting and Independent Television Service.

"George Foster Peabody Awards have been presented to two radio series that Mr. Pennekamp was instrumental in developing, Heat, with John Hockenbery and Wade in the Water, with Bernice Johnson Reagon. At Humboldt State University in California, he founded and directed The Bridge, a public program in the natural sciences, humanities and media." [1]
