Peyton M. West, American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS)

"Peyton works at the intersection of science and religion to encourage positive engagement on issues ranging from evolution to astrobiology. She also works with local school boards to improve science, math, and technology education. An ardent advocate for science literacy she has promoted science through documentaries, web sites, museum exhibits, and television shows such as the MTV Network's children's program "Go, Diego, Go!" Previously she worked as a field biologist for the Serengeti Lion Project in Tanzania and Kenya and she is particularly interested in African conservation issues including the impacts of global warming and of various aid regimes on local villages. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Yale University and a Ph.D. in ecology from the University of Minnesota." [1]
