Philadelphia Media Holdings LLC bought the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Philadelphia Daily News from McClatchy Co. in mid-2006.
The papers were previously owned by Knight Ridder which sold its newspapers to McClatchy. McClatchy in turn decided to sell off twelve of the newspapers.
