Reece Rushing "is director of regulatory and information policy at American Progress. He previously worked as a policy analyst at OMB Watch, where for more than seven years he directed the group's regulatory work. At OMB Watch, Reece led and coordinated a coalition of more than 300 public interest organizations representing a diverse range of interests, including the environment, food safety, civil rights, consumer protection, and worker health and safety. Following Newt Gingrich's Contract with America and through the remainder of the Clinton administration, this coalition beat back a host of regulatory "reform" bills that sought to block new health, safety and environmental safeguards. Reece also led OMB Watch's work on information policy issues in the aftermath of 9/11, as the Bush administration began to withhold large amounts of previously public data with no recognition of the benefits of disclosure. More recently, Reece launched a periodic report to examine the regulatory activities of the Bush administration. In particular, this report exposed repeated efforts by the administration's regulatory czar, John Graham, to undermine health, safety and environmental safeguards. Reece holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri." [1]
