Robert Salteri "is a Director of the major Australian industry/technology company, the Tenix Group, with headquarters in Sydney, Australia.

"From July 2001 to February 2007, he was Chief Executive Officer of one of the Group’s major business units, Tenix Defence Pty Ltd.

"Tenix Defence is the largest Australian-owned defence contractor, organised under Aerospace, Electronic Systems, Land and Marine divisions, operating in all mainland States and Territories. Major skill areas include systems integration, industry development, aerospace components, armoured vehicles, ship repair and refit, software systems and commercial support programs.

"The Tenix Group earns more than $A1b annually and employs more than 4,500 people.

"Mr Salteri gained a Bachelor of Engineering degree at Wollongong University in 1986 and from 1986-88 worked for Gold Copper Exploration Pty Ltd in the Torres Strait and the Atherton Tableland.

"He joined Transfield Construction in 1988 as General Manager of the Victorian Division, and in 1991, was appointed Deputy Chief Executive of AMECON, a marine and heavy engineering company servicing defence, oil and gas and resource industries.

"In 1993, AMECON become Transfield Shipbuilding Ltd. In 1994, Mr Salteri was appointed Director, Victoria, for Transfield Holdings Pty Ltd, and later Deputy Chief Executive, Transfield Construction. Following the reorganisation of the former Transfield Group in 1997, Mr Salteri became an Executive Director of Tenix Pty Limited.

"Mr Salteri was born in 1961. He married Kelly in 1987, and they have three children and live in Sydney. Mr Salteri’s interests include skiing and sailing. He represented Australia at the World 12 Metre Sailing Championships in Sardinia in 1984." [1]
