Biographical Information

"Robin Mills is a Chartered Engineer (UK) and a Fellow of the UK Institute of Materials, Metallurgy and Mining as well as the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. He was appointed to the RBPlat board in September 2010. Robin joined the Anglo American group in 1965 after matriculating and went on to obtain a BSc Mining Engineering degree from the University of Witwatersrand. In 1975 he was transferred to the Anglo group in Zimbabwe where, among others, he managed the Bindura Nickel Corporation. In the late 1980s he joined De Beers as general manager and effected the ‘surface to underground’ transition at the Finsch Diamond Mine. He was later appointed as the De Beers Consulting Mining Engineer in Johannesburg. Robin was posted to South America in the early 1990s as a consulting engineer. He returned to Johannesburg in 1995 and was appointed deputy director: mining and then alternate director of the Anglo American Corporation of South Africa Ltd. He then moved briefly to AngloGold Ashanti Limited before being appointed COO and then CEO of Konkola Copper Mines (plc), Zambia. His last post at Anglo was at Anglo Platinum as executive director of projects." [1]
