Biographical Information

"Ryan is the Founder and Director of Bright Blue, an independent think tank and pressure group for liberal conservatism. Ryan is a writer and expert on Conservative politics and philosophy, and education and social policy. He is a regular commentator on TV, radio and in newspapers. He is the author of various books and reports, and the architect of several policies which have been adopted by government. Most recently, he co-authored Tory modernisation 2.0, a blueprint for the future strategy and policies of the Conservative Party.

"Ryan was a Research Fellow for the think tank the Social Market Foundation and was part of the team that won Prospect Magazine's Think Tank of the Year in 2012. At the SMF, he authored numerous research papers and designed innovative policies on childcare, welfare, public service reform, higher education and health.

"He has been a researcher for Rt Hon David Willetts MP when he was Shadow Education Secretary, where he authored the Conservative Party's Childhood Review, and an adviser to Rt Hon Maria Miller MP when she was the Shadow Minister for the Family, devising Conservative party policy and managing media relations. He was the Political Secretary of the Bow Group, a centre-right think tank."[1]
