He runs the SolarDirect brand that provides offgrid solar power for small busineses and a renewable energy Consultant/ Financial Advisor. Segun has provided expert services as a consultant on renewable energy to various organisations such as SolarNigeria Programme funded by DfID, UNDP, Bank of Industry Nigeria, Ecobank Nigeria, USAID, Winrock International, World Bank Group, Federal Government of Nigeria, Hienrich Boll Foundation, CTI Private Finance Advisory Network, Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves etc. Segun has wide experience in research and market studies spanning microfinance, energy access, renewable energy and energy efficiency.

"Recently, he has supported various programmes in market assessment in the energy space such as World Bank’s Readiness for Investment in Sustainable Energy (RISE Project); Baseline Study on the Status of the market for off-grid Solar PV in Nigeria under the SolarNigeria Programme funded by DfID; Assessment of the Financing Market for Small Solar PV Systems in Nigeria funded by DfID; Assessment of Market for Distribution of Clean Cookstoves in Katsina State of Nigeria funded by EU-Oxfam; Market Potentials for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Project Finance in Nigeria funded by USAID and implemented by Winrock International; and many others. In the past 5 years, he has been involved in creating access to clean energy for off-grid communities and poor rural households in Nigeria through various leading roles he played in the sector such as Project Manager, UNDP/Bank of Industry Access to Renewable Energy Project, Chief of Party, Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Project (REEEP) of Winrock International and funded by USAID, Consultant to CTI PFAN West African Forum for Clean Energy Finance (WAFCEF) etc.

"He brings his over two decades of commercial, retail and microfinance banking experience to bear on increasing access to finance across the renewable energy value chain. He is currently a Mentor and Coach under the Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme (TEEP), West African Forum for Clean Energy Financing (WAFCEF) and a host of others.

"Segun has over 25 years of work experience spanning commercial, retail and microfinance banking. He is a pioneer microfinance banker in Nigeria and has deep passion for poverty alleviation, empowerment and entrepreneurship. He consults for several states and government agencies on developing sustainable empowerment programs around Nigeria and the West African coast.

"Segun holds a B.Sc degree in Economics and MBA from the University of Lagos Nigeria and has attended executive training programs in Harvard Business School, MIT/Sloan School of Management, Frankfurt School of Management/UNEP, Lagos Business School and Renewables Academy Berlin. He is the Interim President, Renewable energy Association of Nigeria (REAN).

"Segun has attended various conferences both locally and internationally including the 2nd Geneva Private Capital Symposium on Investing Private Equity in Emerging and Frontier Market SMEs, Geneva Switzerland, 5th African Business Leaders Forum, Accra Ghana, 2nd Nigeria Energy and Power Summit Abuja Nigeria and was a facilitator at the 2008 African Kingdom Business Forum in Uganda.

He has attended serious of conrferences and programmes on Renewable Energy in UK, US, South Africa, India, Ghana and Nigeria. He is well recognised for his role in the development of renewable energy in Nigeria. " [1]
