"Simon joined the Leicestershire Cares Board as Chairman in March 2015. He had been a founder member of Cares and had in the past been on the Leadership Team for a number of years.

"Simon is a Production Engineering & Production Management graduate of Nottingham University and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. He worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 24 years initially in financial management roles and then in general management, mainly in UK but partly in Germany. At the time of the formation of Leicestershire Cares in 2000, he was General Manager of AstraZeneca’s 70 acre site in Loughborough, employing 1,500 people.

"In 2008, he left AstraZeneca to become Chief Executive of the hospice care charity, LOROS and retired from that post and full time employment in March 2015.

"Simon has held a number of non-executive roles, most notably as a member of Loughborough University’s Council (governing body) for 9 years and for a large part of that time he was also Chair of the Audit Committee. He received the HRH Prince of Wales’s East Midlands Ambassador Award for Business in the Community for 2006-7."[1]
