Colin Lucas "has been Secretary to the Rhodes Trust and Warden of Rhodes House in Oxford since 2004. Prior to that, he was Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford (1997-2004). In his earlier career he was successively Lecturer in Modern History at the Universities of Sheffield and Manchester (1965-1973), Tutorial Fellow at Balliol College, Oxford (1973-1990), Professor of History and Dean of Social Science at the University of Chicago (1990-1994), Master of Balliol College (1994-2000), and Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford (2000-2006). In addition, he is Chairman of the British Library and a Trustee of the Andrew W Mellon Foundation. He is a member of various committees to do with Higher Education in Guangdong Province (China), Hong Kong, Singapore, India and Germany. Before becoming Warden of Rhodes House, he was a Trustee of the Rhodes Trust." [1]
