Biographical Information

"Sir John Baker is currently Vice Chairman of the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and a Director of Renewable Energy Holdings plc.

"An Arts Graduate from Oxford University, John spent ten years as a senior civil servant, followed by ten years leading an urban regeneration and social housing agency. He became Managing Director of the Central Electricity Generating Board and led the management of the UK electricity privatisation and restructuring programme in 1979. He was Chief Executive and then Chairman of National Power plc from 1989 to 1997. From 1995-1998 he was Chairman of the World Energy Council.

"Outside the business arena he is Chairman of the Governing Body of Holland Park School and a Trustee of The Friends of the Yehudi Menuhin School. He has previously chaired the Senior Salaries Review Body, English National Opera, and Groundwork, as well as various trusts and charities"[1]
