Sir Roger Singleton CBE "retired at the end of 2005 after a 31 year career with Barnardo's, 21 years as Chief Executive. Coinciding with his retirement, he was awarded a knighthood in recognition of services to children. He is former Chairman and Treasurer of the National Council of Voluntary Child Care Organisations and has participated in many working parties and study groups. He has also served on public enquiries into child abuse in children's homes, and is involved in matters of charity governance and management. An accredited Mediator, he has also been involved in dispute resolution within public, commercial and voluntary organisations." [1]
