"A former journalist, Steven served for six years as the Deputy Director and Senior Press Officer in the Office of Congressional and Public Affairs at USDA’s Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS). In that capacity, he served as the agency’s chief spokesperson and directed a staff of public affairs professionals on high profile issues like the first U.S. case of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) and high-profile food safety recalls. Prior to his work at FSIS, Steven worked for 10 years on Capitol Hill, serving on the staffs of three Members of Congress.

"For the past four years, Steven provided strategic communications advice to the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), two United Nations (UN) Agencies headquartered in Rome, Italy. His wife, Nancy E. Roman, serves in the leadership of the UN’s World Food Program." [1]
