Talk:ALEC Alumni in Congress

Anna, Thanks for your note! I think the list we reference on the "ALEC Alumni in Congress" page is accurate. If you navigate through alec.org by following tabs-- from the top nav bar, "Initiatives" drop down, then "Federal Relations," then, under "Alumni," "House of Representatives (91)" and "Senate (9)"-- I believe these are the most recent lists, the ones we've referenced. Did you access the list of Alumni that you sent me a link to via a search? ALEC seems to have a lot of archived information still up on its site that is no longer linked via other parts of the site but hasn't yet been deleted, and those pages are available by searching. It's a useful trove of information, but I do think that the pages that are linked via other parts of the sites are the most up-to-date. We also have materials from the 2011 ALEC annual meeting last week, which we are in the process of inputting, and I'll verify our current lists against those materials as I go through them. Thanks again for contacting me,

Bekah, for what it's worth, McClintock's aides say he has not been a member. Today I emailed ALEC's web person about the ambiguity & possibly inaccurate info.Anna Haynes 03:13, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
Not a member and never a member are two very different things....
True, but the aide said "The Congressman is not a member of ALEC nor has he ever been a member". But she said she got this info from another aide, so I'm checking to find out whether McClintock actually said it himself, to the aide. (I've also emailed both the ALEC webmaster and the individual given as a reference on the ALEC Federal Relations page, asking them if the ALEC "Alumni" lists (which include Tom McClintock) are correct; but neither has answered, & the ALEC webpage appears unchanged. So, ambiguity continues.) Anna Haynes 21:22, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

Are we sure these are the alumni? ALEC has this page that says "alumni"; the other cited pages don't. Tom McClintock, for one, is not on the "alumni" page. Anna Haynes 21:58, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

but on consideration, the page labeled "alumni" might be old&outdated; it does have John Doolittle on it. So take with salt... Anna Haynes 00:03, 11 August 2011 (UTC)
