Talk:Diane Bast

The following is a response from Ms. Bast to an email she received from me. I had been doing some browsing on the subject of Global warming. While doing so, I stumbled on some anti-GW articles which used her institute as part of their infallible, unbiased proof. This is how I had occasion to email her at all. When I linked to her site I saw both a right and left margin filled with anti-GW propaganda, like a picture of Al Gore with the word "snowjob" written across it in bold and an ad about the annual conservative political action committee (CPAC). A totally biased web site, in my estimation, which I am perfectly fine with AS LONG AS it is not advertised as being something else: Unbiased.

I emailed the institute to ask why they called themselves non-partisan. I asked them to tell me what their agenda is and I asked if they actually thought we were that stupid. On the whole, I admit that I may not have been as tactful as I could. However, it is extremely surprising that the wife of the President of a "prestigious" Institute would behave even worse.

Ms. Bast, wife of the Heartland Institutes President, emailed me back and said that yes, she thought I was stupid. Very Professional, Ms. Bast. I sure hope these are not the typical "experts" we hear so much about, but I fear they are. I've seen it too often.

Here is the text and header of the email:

So please tell me what our “agenda” is. Yes, I honestly do think you’re stupid.

I just thought people should know what type of person runs this think tank. --MF 01:44, 30 October 2007 (EDT)
