Hitachi, Ltd.(Kabushiki Kaisha Hitachi Seisakusho)

Hitachi Works is the oldest member of the Hitachi Group and consists of three factories: Kaigan, Yamatte, and Rinkai Works. Yamatte Works, the oldest of the three factories, was founded in 1910 by Namihei Odaira as an electrical equipment repair and manufacturing facility. This facility was named Hitachi, and is regarded as the ancestral home of Hitachi, Ltd.

Many management trainees intern at Hitachi Works before being permanently assigned to other Hitachi divisions. Senior management personnel are often participants in rotations at Hitachi Works for a few years as their career develops towards eventual head office stature. As a result, many of the senior managers of Hitachi Ltd have passed through Hitachi Works.

Spin-off entities from Hitachi Works include Hitachi Cable (1956) and Hitachi Canadian Industries (1988).

Labor

It has been found that there has been many abuses committed from different multinatioanls, includding Hitachi. This happens in Mexican terrietories, where the CEREAL (El Centro de Reflexión y Acción Laboral) has found out of 2 thousand complains received, 237 had demostrated 74 cases in which directly or indirectly companies such as Nokia, Philips, Solectron, Hitachi etc, Had violated labor's rights. By subcontracting and reducing costs.

Human Rights

It has n't been clear the participation or not in the defense of the human rights coming a long from the Democratic Republic of Congo, how ever is our understanding that the mineral TIN has been clamed that many companies, including HITACHI, had bought the mineral from Mines in which Human Rights are poorly seen, and unrespected.

Environment

Hitachi has been part of a global policy framework to combat climate change, this companies have combined in an international business initiative called Combat Climate Change (3C). They are recommending specific action steps that world governments should make a priority in taking urgent action against the global climate problem. The initiative's is done by a group of 46 companies includding such as ABB, AIG, Alcan, Alstom, Areva, Bayer, BP, British Sky Broadcasting, Centrica, CEZ Group, China National Offshore Oil Corp, Citigroup, Deutsche Bahn, Deutsche Post, DONG Energy, Dow Chemical, Duke Energy, EnBW, Endesa, Enel, E.ON, Eskom, Fortum, General Electric, etc.

The Climate Counts Company Scorecard said to be helping different companies around the world to help changing the enviroment, and do better practices inside them, and they have recorded Hitachi as one of this companies "walking in the right walk"

In this sue we find the company related to it, and so it means they work together with other big companies. even thou it was put up this way. We also find that Hitachi is not being sued in that case because the company has indicated a willingness to settle the allegations,
