Mathew Berghs was arrested by John Timoney in Philadelphia in 2001. Berghs was charged with aggravated assault and three misdemeanors adnheld in jail for three days. During his trial the jury became convinced that Bergh was so severeyl beaten by police officers, that his injuries will have lasting effects. Timoney testified under oath that he witnessed the entire incident, but was unable to convince the jury. Bergh was released.

During the FTAA protest in Maimi Timony dressed his police in military uniforms, khaki, full black body armor, gas masks and banged their batons against their shields. There were armored personell carriers and helicopters.

He ordered the police to use their shields to push, butt, bruise and crush demonstrators forcing them away from the site of the FTAA talks block by block. police erected what the protesters called ad "Guantanamo-style cage" where protesters were caged for 12 hours at a time.

One protester flashed a peace sign at the police and was shot multiple times, including once in the stomach at point blank range.

only embedded reporters were granted permission to cover the events. Independent journalists filmed unprovoked police attacks against demonstrators, journalists and human rights observers with batons, stun guns, concussion grenades, various types ofrubber bullets, bean bags, tear gas and sprays. Medics were not permitted to cross police lines to treat the injured protesters.

Congress appropriated $87 billion for the war on terror. Timony was given $8.5 million of that sum.

While I was not at the protests, a number of my friends were, and took video footage that proves a great deal of what is said here. I wonder though, how can we cite video (in this case there is an actual documentary, the Miami Model, that exposes the tactics used by the Miami PD). I'll try and find some textual refrences though.
