Relocated material from parallel SEPP page that I deleted. Have edited this down to remove unnecessary hyperbole and tangential material. The inclusion of large slabs of text from documents that are already online makes the article unreadable. By all means include the key quotes, paraphrase the overall document and add link to the online document but I don't see that reproducing entire documents is all that helpful. -- bob

... Mike Bennett is a journalist and author of "The Asbestos Packet:: An Environmental, Parable". He is also, affiliated with the Science and Environmental Policy Project, and has been a consultant for the congressional Office of Technology Assessment. Bennett serves as an advisor to the Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow:

Bennett accused the government of being slow and clumsy in spreading the word of the revised view (EPA revised its views in 1990 and now says that asbestos, should be sealed and left where it is, rather than removed altogether) in its 1990 asbestos report known as the Green Book. A 1990 study said that the form, of asbestos known as crysolite, which, makes up more: than 90 percent of asbestos in U.S. buildings, was. relatively harmless. The study co-authored by the University of Vermont pathologies Brooke T. Mossman. influenced EPA.

We had previously identified Mike Bennett, but decided not to approach due to the: following comment he made in a commentary, "For almost a generation the American public has been the victim of a hoax perpetuated by its own government, that cancer is caused by environmental factors, and particularly industry, and not by personal habits primarily smoking." However, during a recent conversation with Bonner Cohen, he suggested Bennett as a qualified, and, most likely interested, candidate to author the IAQ article. Bennett is a personal friend of Cohen's. ...

Relocating unref'd material from a page on a former SEPP person. --Bob Burton 01:20, 28 Apr 2006 (EDT) SEPP was, since its founding in 1990, skeptical about ozone depletion and global warming. In its first year, SEPP sublet office space from the Washington Institute for Values in Public Policy (The Washington Institute) an organization affiliated with Sun Myung Moon's Unification Church (UC) and the Washington Times newspaper.
