Talk:War on Iraq

I disagree that "war on Iraq" is an innocuous phrase. You make war "on" or "against" an enemy, and that isn't innocuous. You make war "in" a country to "liberate" its people; that is more innocuous. So, officially, we made war on Saddam's regime in Iraq to "liberate the Iraqi people."

If we said, "The war in Iraq: this innocuous phrase, common in the US media...." and redirected "War on Iraq" to "War in Iraq", that would make more sense, IMO. Mutternich 10:25, 27 Apr 2004 (EDT)

Mutternich .. be my guest ... no intention intended in the redirect. AI
