Thomas W. Knowlton, Vice President and Director of TCC Group, "has worked in the field of Corporate Citizenship since 1995, and has over twenty-five years of experience in management and strategic planning (for-profit and nonprofit), program development, and marketing and constituent communications. Currently, he heads up the Corporate Citizenship practice at TCC Group and is a member of the Board of Directors.

"Since joining TCC Group in 2001, Knowlton has worked with a number of corporate clients, including Pfizer, Chevron, Goldman Sachs, Coca-Cola, Wachovia, Prudential, Altria, Kraft, Marsh & McLennan, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Microsoft, NewAlliance Bank and Booz Allen Hamilton. Nonprofit projects include the Aspen Institute's Business and Society Program, America' Charities, National Urban League, the Partnership for Clear Health Communication, and the New York Branch of the International Dyslexia Association.

"Knowlton has co-authored TCC Group papers on employee involvement, "Rediscovering a Strategic Resource: Your Employees", and on evaluation, "How Corporate Community Involvement Programs can use Evaluation as a Tool to Maximize Business and Social Impact."

"Prior to joining the firm, Knowlton spent six years at The Council on Economic Priorities, most recently as the Executive Director. The Council's work focused on tracking, evaluating and reporting on the corporate social responsibility records of Fortune 500 companies. The organization's research was featured in consumer books and publications, business publications such as Fortune Magazine and The Wall Street Journal, and through an annual Corporate Conscience Awards Program, honoring the leading companies in Corporate Social Responsibility.

"In addition to overseeing the management and development of the Council, Knowlton was involved in the strategic development and planning of an affiliate, Social Accountability International, which created SA8000, an international labor standard now being endorsed by companies such as Avon and Toys R Us. The labor standard was developed over the course of a year by a committee of representatives from business, nongovernmental organizations and labor organizations. Certification firms have been auditing factories around the world according to the SA8000 standard since 1999.

"Previous to his work at the Council, Knowlton worked in marketing, fundraising and communications for Earthwatch, a nonprofit organization that recruits thousands of volunteers annually to work with field research scientists around the world. Knowlton began his career in Business Publishing, working in marketing for Inc. Magazine and CFO Magazine.

Knowlton received his Master's Degree in Public Administration from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government and Bachelor of Arts Degree from Trinity College." [1]
