Stokely Baksh was a temporary researcher and writer at the Center for Public Integrity at the time she wrote the Digital Copyright wiki. Her focus at the Center included copyright, digital rights management, royalties, and the Copyright Office among other issues. The Center is a nonprofit, nonpartisan research organization in Washington, DC, that concentrates on ethics and public service issues.

Currently, a freelance reporter, Baksh is a former technology correspondent for the newswire United Press International. She holds a print journalism degree from American University and will be attending Columbia University's Journalism Graduate School to pursue studies in new media. In addition, she also designs posters for bands and shows.
