Wayne Pacelle

Wayne Pacelle is president of the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS). He is also founder of Humane USA, a non-partisan political arm of the animal protection movement and the Humane Society Legislative Fund, a 501(c)(4) social welfare animal welfare legislative lobby and supporter of humane-minded candidates. In both organizations, Mr. Pacelle has defeated major anti-animal welfare politicians such as Rep. Richard Pombo of California in 2006 and Rep. Chris John of Louisiana in 2004. In 2006, he co-founded the National Federation of Humane Societies (NFHS), a trade association that represents local humane societies. He now serves on the board of the NFHS.

Mr. Pacelle previously served as the executive director of the Fund for Animals. He was an associate editor and later, president of the board for The Animals' Agenda magazine. Mr. Pacelle has worked as an instructor for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Refuge Training Academy. He is a board member of the HSUS Wildlife Land Trust, Humane Society International and several other boards." [1]
