William E. Conway, Jr.

William E. Conway, Jr., is the founder of the Carlyle Group. He is also the chairman of Nextel and former senior vice president and chief financial officer at MCI.

Conway is chairman of United Defense Industries, the largest defense contractor in the United States, which was purchased by the Carlyle Group.
