2,4-D and ACCase-Inhibitor Tolerant Corn is genetically engineered corn that has had its DNA modified to withstand broadleaf herbicides in the phenoxy auxin group (such as the herbicide 2,4-D) and resistance to grass herbicides in the aryloxyphenoxypropionate acetyl coenzyme A carboxylase inhibitor group (such as quizalofop herbicides). It was created by Dow AgroSciences, which petitioned the USDA to deregulate (legalize) it on December 27, 2011. It is identified as the event "DAS-40278-9." This GE corn is highly controversial as the herbicide 2,4-D was one of the two chemicals used in Agent Orange. It is frequently referred to as 2,4-D Corn.
