Ed Hatcher "founded The Hatcher Group in fall 2000 after more than 15 years experience in the media and legislative arenas.

"Prior to forming The Hatcher Group, he served as a senior associate at Burness Communications, where he worked with national foundations to disseminate their findings to policymakers and journalists. He has served as chief of staff to U.S. Representatives Jane Harman (D-Calif.) and Robert T. Matsui (D-Calif.) and press secretary to U.S. Senator George Mitchell (D-Me.) and U.S. Rep. Robin Britt (D-N.C.). He spent five years as director of congressional affairs for the American Electronics Association and three years as director of public affairs for the American Sociological Association.

"Early in his career, he worked as a reporter at United Press International and several North Carolina newspapers. He is a former president of the Association of House Democratic Press Secretaries, volunteer communications director for Citizens Against the Stadium in Alexandria, Va., and a fellow at the Capitol Hill Historical Society.

"Ed holds a bachelor’s degree in English and history from Duke University, a master’s degree from the Columbia University School of Journalism, and is ABD in American history at the University of Maryland, College Park." [1]
