Hasbara comes form the word "lehasbir" in Hebrew, which means "to explain". When discussed from a political point of view, it refers to Israel's presentaion of, including explanations of, it's political and ideological stance. In other words, what is referred to is public diplomacy by the state of Israel. Many Hasbara documents can be found online, for example in the website of the Israeli ministery of foreign affairs.

Hasbara is conducted by various governmental and non-governmental organizations. For example, the Israel Hasbara Committee (IHC) is one such non-governmental organization which provides the public with information about Israel. This organization's main mission is to present the truth and promote accuracy about the state of Israel and defend Jews from prejudice.
