The Israel Science Foundation (ISF) "is now Israel's predominant source of competitive grants funding for basic research. Its roughly $60 million annual budget funds 1,300 grants a year, providing 2/3 of all such funds. Every year, more than 10,000 expert reviewers from Israel and abroad are involved in peer-reviewing the scientific merit of its proposals." [1]
