Jeffrey B. Swartz is president and CEO of Timberland.

"Mr. Swartz is the third generation of the Swartz family to lead Timberland: His grandfather, Nathan, started the predecessor company to Timberland in 1952. His father, Sidney, and his uncle, Herman, launched the Timberland brand in the early 1970s.

"Jeffrey Swartz became president and CEO in 1998, after working for 12 years in virtually every functional area of the company. Under his leadership, Timberland's annual revenues have grown from $156 million in 1989 to over $1.4 billion.

"Mr. Swartz is a leader in the development and implementation of corporate social responsibility programs. Through his leadership, Timberland launched a groundbreaking public/private partnership with City Year, a national youth service organization. Mr. Swartz joined City Year's Board in 1989 and was the national chair from 1994 until 2003.

"In 1992, he initiated a social enterprise department, recognizing a passion among Timberland employees for voluntary service. Timberland's Path of Service program, which allows employees to take up to 40 hours of paid leave for community service, has accumulated into more than 130,000 service hours of service. Timberland has consistently been ranked by Fortune as one of the 100 Best Companies to Work For in America. In 2002, Timberland received the Ron Brown Award, a Presidential award for outstanding corporate leadership in social responsibility, and Mr. Swartz received the Two/Ten Foundation's T. Kenyon Holly Memorial Award for Humanitarian Achievement.
