Lahiru Perera

Board member of the Sarvodaya Economic Enterprises Development Services since 1998, "Lahiru Perera is the Director of Programs of CARE International-Sri Lanka, having served as the Regional Director South Asia of ITDG. He focused primarily on community development, working with communities in remote areas and other stakeholder institutions.

"Lahiru Perera holds a Post-graduate Certificate in NGO Management from the Open University of London, and a Diploma in Technology from the Aquinas College of Higher Studies. He has also followed a course in Micro Hydro conducted by SKAT, Switzerland, and holds certificates in Work Study, Public Relations and Personnel Management.

"Lahiru Perera serves on the Director Boards of Lanka Rain Water Harvesting Forum, the Lanka Jalani and Vikasitha, among others. He has been involved in global debates on renewable energy, trade agreements, genetically modified food and world water vision. Locally, Lahiru Perera has represented the NGO sector in the Water Council, NEAP and the NGO Consultative Committees of the World Bank and the ADB. Apart from the many papers he has presented at various forums, he was also instrumental in winning the Global Energy Award for Sri Lanka" [1]
