Nancy Weiss (USA)

"During 30 years as a private practice general surgeon in Massachusetts, Nancy was president of her medical staff and then president of the county medical society. Since retiring in 2007 she has continued to practice medicine part-time on a volunteer basis. She has been involved with both The Nature Conservancy (Massachusetts, USA chapter) and the Massachusetts Audubon Society and was an active member of the MassAudubon board for 11 years eventually serving as chair of the conservation committee. During that time she gave a 160 acre parcel to MassAudubon bought expressly to preserve its varied habitat and active beaver ponds. She is now an honorary director and has volunteered with the land protection staff helping them monitor conservation restrictions, among other things Cooperated with TNC on a land protection project, buying 275 acres of land with a 25 acre pond. As part of her continuing commitment to helping birds Nancy currently serves on the board of the American Bird Conservancy." [1]
