Phil Singer has been described as one of "Capitol Hill's most experienced press officers," having worked for Democratic members of Congress and election campaigns. [1]

In January 2005, Singer became the communications director for "the first permanent communications war room for Democrats on Capitol Hill," the Senate Democratic Communications Center. Singer's SDCC duties include "rapid response" and sending "regular e-mails to media members providing them with important information on the Democrats," according to PR Week. [2]

In April 2004, Singer was "signed on to do opposition research for [2004 Democratic presidential candidate John] Kerry." [3] A Kerry campaign press release at the time referred to Singer as a "new spokesperson." [4]

Singer was "the press secretary who was charged with keeping Sen. Charles Schumer (D-New York) in the news seven days a week," [5] and served as Schumer's spokesperson for four years, previous to the Kerry campaign. Earlier in his career, Singer worked in the offices of Congressman Steve Rothman (D-New Jersey) and Senator Robert Torricelli (D-New Jersey). [6]
