Biographical Information

"Stephen Dawson is non-executive chairman of ECI based in London. Working at BTG, Stephen was one of the first venture capitalists in the UK; he joined ECI in 1985. He became a Managing Director of ECI in 1990 and moved to a non-executive capacity in 2003. Since then he has also been: chairman of Ovum PLC which floated on the LSE in 2006; co-founder and chairman of Impetus Trust www.impetus.org.uk, the UK pioneer of venture philanthropy; and co-founder and chairman of Jacana Venture Partnership www.jacana.org, which aims to tackle poverty in Africa by helping build a venture capital industry. Stephen was named Personality of the Year at the Private Equity Awards in April 2007 and was awarded an OBE "for services to the Voluntary Sector" in 2010."[1]
