Update Re: Samuel Kent

Hello all, I've updated this article to include Samuel B. Kent, a Federal Judge from Texas. He was impeached in June and later resigned that same month. The Senate dismissed the charges in July. Besides adding Kent, I've also added the date the proceedings against Judge English were dismissed. I've also updated the number of folks impeached by one. The sources for this edit are the Congressional Directory (see [1] and scroll down to "Impeachment Proceedings") and this Associated Press article written after Kent's impeachment was dismissed (see [2]). I hope this helps. Thanks Hoshie 04:46, 9 September 2009 (EDT)

SW: SW: Re: fixing of references and formatting

Hello all,

Looking though the entry, I noted the references to AP story concerning the end of former Judge Kent's impeachment and the link to the Congressional Directory were broken. I found them again and this time I used WebCite, a service that archives web references. I do to preserve the references in case they break again. I also removed some stray commas in the judges table. I hope this helps. Hoshie 01:58, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

SW: SW: Update Re: G. Thomas Porteous, Jr.

I have updated the article to reflect the removal of former Judge G. Thomas Porteous, Jr. last week with a reference. I hope this helps. Hoshie 09:04, 13 December 2010 (UTC)

SW: Mark H. Delahay

I recently added Kansas Judge Mark Delahay. It appears that he was impeached in February 1873. However no articles of impeachment were presented to the Senate at the time. Later on the Senate told the House that it was ready to receive the articles of impeachment. After this, the judge resigned. In a 2010 report, the Congressional Research Service (CRS) mentioned this case by noting:

A 16th Senate trial, that of Mark H. Delahay, of the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas, was begun when the Members of the House appeared before the bar of the Senate to impeach the Judge at the end of the Third Session of the 34th Congress. No articles of impeachment were presented at that time. After the judge resigned, there were no further proceedings.

Pages 15-16 of the CRS report Impeachment: An Overview of Constitutional Provisions, Procedure, and Practice goes into futher details. The Federal Judicial Center biography of Delahay mentions his impeachment, as does their list of impeached Judges (see [3] and [4]). The US Senate website does as well: [5]. It was added to the page since it lists all the people who have been impeached. Hope this helps. Hoshie 01:44, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
