Below is the May 10, 2004 source code for a site titled "Jerk Sauce." I preserved this source code here as fair use, educational evidence that at least from April 12 to May 10, Jerk Sauce represented itself as a site "run by Bomis." At that time, Jerk Sauce featured a link to several right-wing sites, including one operated by Tim Blair. On April 12, Tim Blair at his blog, a recommended link from Bomis' blog, posted a comment encouraging rape of a peace activist (see: Rape a Clown for Peace). On May 10, Wikipedia founder Jim Wales stated that Jerk Sauce is not operated by Bomis, but by Tim Shell, and changed the URL to reflect the change. Tim Shell is also an administrator at Wikipedia and one of three Bomis partners designated as the orignal trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation.

Why is it called Jerk Sauce?
It had to be called something. We decided to call it Jerk Sauce.

Why does Jerk Sauce exist?
Frequently I will see something on the Internet and my initial impulse is to tell my officemates, "Hey, check this out." Except I don't have officemates, so I needed another outlet for this urge to banter. That is why this site was created.

What subject matter does this blog cover?
Anything that we find amusing, interesting, or quirky.

You can email us with story suggestions, links, comments, etc., at jerk at bomis dot com

Why doesn't everything work perfectly on this site?
We decided to bring Jerk Sauce online quickly and work out the bugs as we go. Some stuff may not work the way it should; hopefully we will get around to fixing it soon.

Why is this site so ugly?
Partly because of indifference, but mostly because of laziness.

So you wrote "it is the personal political blog of Tim Shell, not of Bomis, Inc." This page states, "it is run by Bomis". And the blog, which stated it was run by Bomis, offered analysis by 13 commentators representing a common political theme, one of whom advocated political rape at a time when national dialogue was focused on the sexual abuse of wartime prisoners. Wikipedia and Jumbo Wales

I can speak from personal experience with Wales and wikipedia, they are not nearly as interested in accuracy as they are in getting a polished product to package and sell to the highest (Disney) bidder. Blocking of users is frequent and capricious. The admins there run in packs, any time one of them finds something they want drowned off the pages, they alert the other admins who all stand in line to revert it one after another until they goad people into getting nasty with them. Classic troll mafia techniques, that project is shit as far as I'm concerned. Plautus Satire 21:25, 2 Jun 2004 (EDT)

By the way, that jerksauce blog identifies itself as a supporter of Magen David Adom, basically the only national blood bank/trauma service in the world the International Red Cross refuses to recognize for some reason. Plautus Satire 21:28, 2 Jun 2004 (EDT)
