Australian Water Services (AWS) was established in 1991 and is part of Degremont, the international water treatment plant specialist within the Suez Environment Group. On its website AWS states that "we design, build and operate water systems in partnership with public authorities as well as industrial customers in Australia and New Zealand."[1]

AWS's Managing Director, Marc Simon, is a representative on the National Advisory Group of Environment Business Australia.[2]

Perth desalination plant

In April 2005, Degrémont obtained a contract "to design, build and operate the first desalination plan in Australia, worth €380 million for 25 years." The contract was signed "with the Regional Water Authority of Western Australia to build and operate the first reverse osmosis seawater desalination plant in the city of Perth." [1]
