Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant

Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant is owned and operated by Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and is located at Wheeler Reservoir on the Tennessee River, near Athens, Alabama. 

The Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant consists of three General Electric boiling water reactors. Construction began on Unit 1 in 1967 and it began commercial operation on August 1, 1974.[1] This unit was shut down in 1985 and only restarted in 2007.[2]

Units 2 an 3 began commercial operation on March 1, 1975 and March 1, 1977 respectively.[1]
