Christopher Walker "is Director of Studies at Freedom House... As Director of Studies, Walker works with the Executive Director and Director of Research in overseeing a team of senior analysts and researchers in devising overall strategy for and in the production of Freedom House’s analytical publications, including Countries at the Crossroads: A Survey of Democratic Governance; Nations in Transit: Democratization in East Central Europe and Eurasia; Freedom of the Press: a Global Survey of Media Independence; and Freedom in the World: The Annual Survey of Political Rights and Civil Liberties.
"He is co-editor of Countries at the Crossroads. Walker is responsible for generating special studies and reports and responding to critical news and democracy issues through statements and opeds. Walker’s work includes comparative regional assessments of democratic and political development. He is author and co-author of articles and analytical essays that have been published in a range of publications, including The Wall Street Journal Europe, The International Herald Tribune, Barron’s, The Christian Science Monitor, Newsday, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, The Miami Herald and The Philadelphia Inquirer. He has appeared on CNN and other television and radio programs. He holds a BA from Binghamton University, New York, and a Master’s Degree from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. He speaks German and Czech."
