The Congress of National Black Churches (CNBC) "was founded in 1978 and is an ecumenical coalition of eight major historically black denominations representing 65,000 churches and a membership of more than 20 million people. These denominations are: African Methodist Episcopal; African Methodist Episcopal Zion; Christian Methodist Episcopal; Church of God in Christ; National Baptist Convention of America, Inc.; National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc.; National Missionary Baptist Convention of America; and, Progressive National Baptist Convention, Inc."
