Biography

"David, who became Chairman of Hft in 2009, is a Professor at the Wolfson Research Institute, the School of Medicine and Health at Durham University and Durham Business School. He is involved in national policy formulation in health and social care and is the Independent Chair of Skills for Care. He is a prominent international campaigner for social justice for vulnerable and disadvantaged people, particularly those with learning disabilities. David is The Honorary Ambassador for the UK for the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital, the former South African President’s Legacy Project, and is also the Chair of Dementia UK. David was awarded the OBE for his work for social justice, and holds Honorary Degrees from a number of Universities for his work in health and social policy."[1]
