Biographical Information

"David Lloyd established David Lloyd Leisure, now a household name, in 1980. His flagship club opened in Heston in 1982, providing family orientated fitness and leisure with a particular emphasis on racquet sports. David's input directly influenced the modern concept of a racquets, health and fitness club. By 1995, there were 16 David Lloyd Leisure clubs, at which point Whitbread PLC acquired the company for £200m, incorporating it into its Restaurants & Leisure Division. David Lloyd remained as managing director of the division until 1996." [1]
