Ian James Saunders is the Co-Founder of the Tsavo Trust and Tsavo Conservation Group. [1]

"A former British intelligence officer and conservation expert based in Kenya has called for Britain and the US to use counter-insurgency experience from Iraq and Afghanistan to help stamp out poaching in Africa... Mr Saunders, who led counter-insurgency efforts in Northern Ireland, the Middle East and Afghanistan, said that just as the Taliban benefited from the opium trade, al-Shabaab benefited from the ivory trade, although it was impossible to definitively prove either link."
