"Lord (James) Arbuthnot is chairman of the Advisory Board of Thales (UK), a director of SC Strategy Ltd and Gusbourne Estates Ltd and an adviser to Babcock International, Pure Storage and other companies. He has a long history of involvement at the top of UK defence and political life, having been a Conservative MP for 28 years, Minister of State for Defence Procurement (1995-7), Conservative Chief Whip (1997-2001), and Chairman of the Defence Select Committee (2005-2014) and is a Senior Associate Fellow of the Royal United Services Institute." 5. Gifts, benefits and hospitality (UK) The Cayo Foundation have made a donation of £6,000 to three charities of my choice as sponsorship for my growing a beard. (Registered 13 August 2003)

31 October-2 November 2003, two nights' accommodation, including meals, at the Savoy Hotel in London, and other meals elsewhere, while attending a conference as a guest of the British-Spanish Tertulias. The event was funded partly by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and partly by the Spanish Tertulius, with contributions from British business. (Registered 3 November 2003)
