John Richards, Jr., M.D. (Critical of AMA's lack of public stand against smoking): Assistant professor of family medicine at the Medical College of Georgia in 1985; was critical of the AMA's lack of public statement against smoking, "If an organization could be sued for malpractice, there would be a good case here to support gross negligence" (L. White, Merchants 1988).
