Katherine Magraw "is an arms control expert. She presently is a consultant to the Ford Foundation, the Ploughshares Fund and Win Without War. Previously, she was the co-director of the Iraq Media Center for Fenton Communications, a Program Officer for the W. Alton Jones Foundation, a special assistant to the Under Secretary of State and a Foreign Policy Specialist at the U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency. She has been an adjunct professor at American University, legislative assistant to Senator Paul Wellstone, a consultant to WGBH-TV in Boston. Katherine has a PhD. in Political Science from MIT and graduated from Yale University. She lives in Charlottesville, VA with her husband, Christopher Paine, and two daughters.“ 
She has been the executive director of the Peace and Security Funders Group since February 2006.
She also was a Legislative Aide for Senator Paul Wellstone and held several positions in non-governmental organizations.
