Philomena Nwaokolo "is a former client of our group, and she and her then three year-old daughter Victoria were the focus of our groundbreaking women's rights refugee case in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit (in Chicago) that held that female genital mutilation is a form of torture, and that a mother whose daughter faces FGM in the mother's home country could not be deported. She as served as a head nurse in a pediatric hospital in Dallas, and now operates a child care clinic." [1]
