Biographical Information

"With more than 30 years experience in banking Richard Ramsey is one of the UK’s foremost bankers in the arranging and structuring of finance for UK private equity transactions. He has exceptional experience in structuring, finance and risk management, having completed more than 150 deals. He has an extensive network of contacts in the leverage finance market, having built three market-leading leverage teams at Bank of Scotland (BoS), Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein (DKW), (formerly Dresdner Kleinwort Benson),and Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander (KSF).

"Richard’s career started with the Midland Bank in 1976. In 1987 he joined Standard Chartered Bank, where he first worked with Ken Terry. In 1991 he joined the BoS’s Structured Finance department to build its leverage finance team in London. Between 1995 and 1997 he was head of Structured Finance, leading five deal teams. In 1996 Richard’s team at BoS was Acquisition Monthly’s Acquisition Finance Bank of the Year. During his period at BoS he completed 60 leveraged financings of mid-market buyout transactions.

"In 1997 Richard joined DKW as head of its European Leverage team, responsible for teams in both the UK and continental Europe. He completed 44 financings before leaving to join Citigroup’s risk review group in 2004, focusing on European M&A and European securitisation risk. Between 2005 and 2008 Richard was head of Corporate and Structured Finance at KSF, completing 48 leveraged financings of European mid-market buyout transactions. Richard has a degree in Banking and Finance from Loughborough University." [1]
